Run Like a Panther
MVW Running Clubs Race with Panther Pride.
Early on a sunny Saturday morning The Mount Vernon Woods Lady Panthers and the newly founded Boys on the Move Running clubs joined with members of our community including neighbors, teachers, and former students for the 7th annual Panther Fun Run. This event has become a beloved tradition for many members of our community. Current students, teachers, and alumni came out to make sure that the event was a success.
“I’d always want to help the Lady Panthers and the new boys running club. It was an amazing program and I will want to pass it on to the young generation.” - MVW alumna Yessenia C.
Wearing their new MVW running club shirts, students excitedly spread their school spirit and panther pride throughout the Mount Vernon Woods neighborhood as they walked or ran the one mile loop. There were lots of familiar faces directing traffic, running alongside students, and cheering the runners on
When the race was over everyone who participated in the race spent time socializing with community members. Both current and former students and their families enjoyed snacks while younger students and siblings blew bubbles and decorated the blacktop with sidewalk chalk. For many Mount Vernon Woods alumni, this fun run is a yearly tradition.
